ReplyDeleteIn antiquity, The Roman Empire considered focaccia the main dish. In 997 BC ,Gaeta , Southern Italy, for the first time the word pizza was use. In 16th century, Naples, recognized that pizza was a dish for poor people, because it had a flat bread and tomatoes on the top and another reason was that people could buy it in the streets,but even if pizza was poor dish ,visitors out from Naples liked it so much. In Naples, 1807, State Archives mentioned 54 pizzerias. Also in Naples, after 1850, more than 120 pizzerias were open. In 1843, Alexandre Dumas, a famous writer, described the varety of pizza topings, in Paris. Naples, on 11 June 1889, pizza margherita was created by Raffaele Esposito in honour of Queen Margherita. The Margherita had tomatoes, mozzarella and basil like the colours of the Italian flag. After the WW2 , soldiers tasted the pizza and they liked it. Because they liked it, they took the recipe to theur country. Sam Panopoulis invented the ,,Hawaiian pizza’’, in 1962. In 2017 , Unesco listed the pizza Napoletana on the Intangible Cultural Heritage List.

On the 11th of June in 1889, at Naples, was invented „Pizza Marghetrita„ by the pizzamaker Raffaelo Esposito in honour of Queen Margherita of Italy. That pizza had tomatoes, mozzarella and basil. After the second World War, the recipe was spread all over the world. Then, at Chatham, Ontario, in 1962, Sam Panopoulis invented „Hawaiian Pizza„. In 2017 Pizza Napoletana has listed on the „Intangible Cultural Heritage List„ by UNESCO.
